A Guide to Giving
There are some specific items that are frequently requested by individuals
and families. The Port Augusta RAR group are keeping records of requested
items. With money and items donated we try to match the detainees with what
they have identified they need.
People's generosity has been such that we have difficulty handling all the
goods. Also, we would like to match specific gifts to individual needs.
If you would like to find out what detainees need or have requested, please
contact us.
Phone cards with good international rates are useful.
Please check the Request List below. We can't handle goods that the
detainees don't need and RAR and the detainees have limited storage space.
When you contact the team, you will be given a name, number and compound.
Wrap parcels in clear wrapping so contents are seen and clearly label with
recipient's name, ID number & compound.
Hand delivery just prior to visiting is the best option if you are coming to Baxter.

Please let us know via phone, letter,
or use our online feedback form
who has received your gift and
what they have received. This will help us avoid doubling up on gifts and
also make sure that your generosity is shared as equally as possible.
Delivery Options
If you hand deliver make sure you get a receipt.
Delivery can occur by mail or courier: these have similar costs.
